Candlestick – 18ᵗʰ century – Périgord [ME037]

Sculpted during the first half of the 18ᵗʰ century, this candle holder was covered with stucco painted in gray and then enhanced with gilding on its decoration of palmettes and relief grooves called “gadroons”.
Its very good state of preservation makes it one of the rare candle sticks of its time still visible to this day.

Oil jug – 19ᵗʰ century – Périgord [PA038]

Beside it, the beautiful ovoid shape of an oil jug from the Beauronne – Douzillac pottery center.
Its fine spout as well as its water-green glaze enhanced with fingered strips gives it a notorious elegance.
