Curved chest of drawers in nuanced blond walnut – 18ᵗʰ century – Périgord

At first glance, what illuminates this curved chest of drawers is the deeply nuanced blond walnut that was chosen to make it. Then, it presents this daring interest of being astride two worlds. That of the Louis XIV style which gives it a robust foundation and that of the Louis XV style which gives it this remarkable curve both horizontal on the top and vertical on the facade.
The layout succeeding in harmonizing the panels and the curved drawers has indeed obeyed this double injunction. The Louis XV style also appears in the scalloped cutout of the bottom rail and in the sculpture of the volute moldings on the feet. Everything arises and dances in a very special way.

This chest of drawers has a robust structure typical of the Louis XIV style.
