Louis XIII style oak bonnetière - 18th century - Auvergne

Here is a beautiful laundry cabinet which was intended for a house in Auvergne in the 18th century.
Deliberately, the carpenter opted for the Louis XIII style, sober and refined. The door panels feature the traditional flattened diamond pattern.
More atypically, the top panel boasts a cross of the Order of the Knights of Malta.

The quality of the worked oak, as well as the simplicity of the ornamentation, evoke an Auvergne art of living centered on the essential, in the harsh climate of a mountain country.
