This kitchen table from a farm in Cantal has precisely this country and mountain charm linked to its squat, comforting structure. Flanked by two drawers, it is perched on two solid straight legs. Its massive base rests on a cat bar, which is particularly high.

Tables

It comes from a noble house in the Southwest for which it was commissioned in the 17th century. Reserved for the master of the house, for a solitary or accompanied supper, this oval table with intimate proportions was placed near a large fireplace, in a private space resembling a bedroom. Note the thickness of the top made up of two wide walnut planks.
