Large walnut chest with straight lines ordered and shaped in the County of Périgord in the 18th century. This geographical origin is attested by a typically Périgord motif of an inverted V which houses the keyhole. The ironwork, lock, hinges and handles are all original.

Its bird feathers link it to the Louis XIII style and its ancestors traveling chests that roamed the countryside, carrying the armor of their knights who went to war. Dating from the beginning of the 18th century, this robust walnut chest will have had the chance to live a peaceful life in the castle, in a Périgord that has finally been pacified.

Gros coffre en noyer aux lignes droites commandé et façonné dans le Comté du Périgord au XVIIIᵉ siècle. Cette origine géographique est attestée par un motif typiquement périgourdin de V inversé qui abrite l’entrée de serrure. Les ferronneries, serrure, pentures et poignées sont toutes d’origine.

Ses plumes d’oiseaux le rattachent au style Louis XIII et à ses ancêtres coffres de voyage qui battaient la campagne, transportant les armures de leurs chevaliers partis guerroyer. Daté du début du XVIIIe siècle, ce robuste coffre en noyer aura eu la chance de couler une vie paisible au château, dans un Périgord enfin pacifié.
